Knowledge & Wisdom

Knowledge
One could attain it through books.

Wisdom
One could attain it through self reflection.

Wrong & Right

No one is always right or always wrong.
If you think that you are always right, you are most probably wrong.
If you think that you are always wrong, then you are most likely right.

Self reflection is a virtue and humbleness leads to learning.
With both, could one attain enlightenment.

Our Perception

From the start of the world, many of the religion or believe ask us to trust our heart and feelings. They are who we are and how we relate to others.

With the modern world, things become systematic and realistic, and people rely on what they see and hear. This is the perception people are mostly relying on today. Many scientist and engineers could probably create many of such instance, programming a robot to just rely on what they see and hear and work out from there. Are people going to end up like that when we step further into the future?

When we look at a person, it is normal that we judge, but that is not likely the right description of who that person really is. There are many people who discuss that the soul/spirit within a person could never be seen with the naked eye. You have to feel for the person.

Hearing what others say is never the right way to understand a single person as there will always be stories that are twisted and descriptions being mis-interpreted during the passing on of information. What we hear is probably relay by someone with no knowledge of the person or with bias against the person. This are not what we should be listening to about a single individual. You have to feel for the person.

To feel for the person, we are suppose to interact with them and then apply some empathy and understand them. This way, we get to see the person within and not just a shell and casing of an individual. Think twice when you judge a person on first sight.

Zen and Individual

The very first lesson in zen would be what zen is. It is not a religion, but is closely related to Buddhism as it is being shared by people within that religion when it first started.

You and many others would ask, what is zen and what has it got to do with us.

As the first 2 lesson within Zen Speaks (Ebay, Cheung (interzone)) says, being aware of what is around you, it is part of you and me and we are just part of this world. We are same and we maybe different.

We maybe different as we have change through time we have spend in this world and picked up different experience and become who we are today.

We are same because if you look at us from another perspective, we would fall under these " You > Human > Mammal > Living Organism > Part of Earth ". We are just one but we are also part of a larger group.

We should not just look at ourselves and not be aware of what is around us and learn from it as they might be teachings that you should pick up. A teaching that you could relate to and would allow you to understand who you are and proof of your existence.

Multicultural and Language

Living in a multicultural society is a very hard thing to do as you have to be considerate for people of other culture and respect them.

It is always common to see migrants from different part of the world, going to a certain country, working and living there to blend in with the society, but when they do meet someone from their home land, they would talk in their own language and paying no attention to on lookers or by standers who might be irritated by their small talks.

For me, respect should be given to the people of that country and foreigners should try to speak in the language that the society could perceive, this would also help you to blend in with the society and will not cause you to stand out from the crowd.

What do you think and how would you deal with it? Share your ideas.

Balance

Something for everyone to ponder.

We are always looking for a balance in our life, so I could very much say that if we have authority in our work then in other aspects of our life we would give up that authority for something else.

Anyone have any other examples and objections to this idea? Leave your comment. :)

Right or Wrong?

Care to explain and share what the title says?

What is right and what is wrong? Who is it to say what is right or wrong?

If during World War II, the axis won the war, then right would be what Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito defines as right, isn't it?

After reading the above statement and thinking it through, what would your explanation be for right and wrong?

There is really no right and wrong in this world. Currently for most things, right and wrong are being determine by a majority of people who think that their ideas are right, so is those ideas really right and what is in the opposite is wrong?

If you think deeper, and look at the cycle of life, we are being lead by our moral to determine right and wrong and this moral is being built based on teachings by these majority of people, so are you morals, right or wrong?

Hahaha, you have to really search for the truth and find out the answer for yourself.

Collateral

If you are a believer of fate and destiny, you would have consider that everything happens for a reason.
You being here is a collateral to others on this very planet. Everyone is bound for something and this might affect someone else.
You could  be standing at a bus stop doing nothing but looking at your watch, someone else could be looking at you and it could have reminded that very person that time is of the essence and he/she should hurry with what he/she is doing.
A singer/musician might be bound for something, but with his/her song and music, it could help you see something differently.
All this definitely have happen to everyone. We are a part of other people's life and some one else might be a part of our life even if we do or do not have interaction or connection with each other. We are here to provide/ assist/teach others something. We are never one and alone.

Enlightenment?

Hope to hear some thoughts and ideas from others. Shed some light on this very issue.

In Buddhism, "Everything is nothing and nothing is everything", so am I right to say that we could think that, if we believe that we know everything and we are full of ourselves, we will gain nothing, but if we believe we are nothing and we try to absorb everything and thus gain enlightenment.

This then seems to be a cycle of life. And this should be what enlightenment really is? The cycle of life?

We are nothing and everything as we are part of something and too small to be something. With everything that revolves around, there is always a cycle that would involve us.

So what do you say? What is enlightenment and how can we ever know all? Is this what every monk is trying to search for, how are they part of this very cycle of life?

Buying Time(literally)

Never say you cannot buy time.
The only time you cannot buy at the moment is times that are lost.
With bulk of cash, you could buy efficiency and convenience which gives you more time in your future.

For example, you can spend loads of cash taking a cab instead of a bus, this gets you some time, with a cab, you get directly home and need not wait while the bus stops at every stop and passengers board and alight.

Another example would be, you have a slow computer, cause it has very bad processor and RAM, pay the cash and grab a super high end processor and RAM. Load your computer to make it run like a server.

Stop procrastinating that you do not have enough time for anything, as time is in your hands.
